Latest Mahsa Army letter to Congress
Dear Members of Congress,
We, the Mahsa Army, are grassroots Iranian American activists who have been in regular contact with congressional offices and staff over the past three years. Members of our team have met directly with congressional teams to share firsthand information, analysis, and the voices of people inside Iran who cannot safely speak for themselves.
We write today to bring those voices to your attention once again louder and more unified than ever.
Inside Iran, despite brutal repression, internet shutdowns, mass arrests, and executions, the Iranian people increasingly recognize H.R.H. Prince Reza Pahlavi as the legitimate leader of a future transitional government. This recognition is not symbolic; it is practical, organic, and growing under extreme risk. It reflects a clear demand for a secular, democratic transition away from the Islamic Republic.
Prince Reza Pahlavi has publicly committed to leading only during a transitional period until free and fair elections are held. This commitment is precisely why Iranians inside Iran trust him and why this approach aligns with long-standing U.S. national security interests.
Iranians abroad have mobilized in unprecedented global marches and coordinated actions. These demonstrations are not only expressions of solidarity they are lifelines of hope for those facing violence and repression at home.
We respectfully urge your attention to key policy actions articulated by the opposition leadership, which now unite the Iranian opposition and align directly with democratic values and international security interests:
· Protect Iranians by weakening the regime's repression apparatus, especially the IRGC and its leadership.
· Impose maximum economic pressure by freezing regime assets and shutting down its shadow oil fleet.
· Guarantee internet access in Iran by expanding Starlink and blocking regime shutdowns.
· Expel regime diplomats and prosecute officials for crimes against humanity.
· Secure the immediate, unconditional release of all political prisoners.
· Prepare for a democratic transition and recognize a legitimate transitional government.
The Islamic Republic remains a threat not only to its own people, but also to regional and global security. A democratic transition in Iran would contribute to a safer, more stable, and more peaceful world.
We ask you to stand on a bipartisan basis on the right side of history, alongside the Iranian people, and to consider the vital implications for U.S. national security.
Respectfully,
Mahsa Army
